MONCKS CORNER, S.C.—A spokesperson for the Berkeley Co. School District confirmed that shortly before noon, Berkeley Elementary and Berkley High School were placed on lockdown after a suspicious person was

reported in the surrounding area.
Moncks Corner police advised school officials to stay inside the buildings at all times. Shortly after, police arrested the suspect.
As a result, the lockdown was lifted.
The school district spokesperson says principals used the notification system to update parents of the situation.
