BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Berkeley County government offices will be closed at 12 noon today. Chief Justice Toal has directed Berkeley County to close court operations on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 and Wednesday, January 29, 2014.
Consequently, the Berkeley County Courthouse will also be closed. Anyone with hearings scheduled for either of these days should call and re-schedule the hearing on Thursday, January 30, 2014. Berkeley County government asks residents to prepare themselves and their homes for a dangerous developing winter weather situation. The National Weather Service says the forecast for this week calls for snow and ice accumulations with freezing temperatures that could last through Thursday morning.
Residents should prepare for the possibility of power outages, problems with pipes that are not fully insulated or at risk to burst, and very dangerous driving conditions.
State and local agencies are putting emergency plans in place for this winter weather event and urge everyone in Berkeley County to consider preparations to keep your home, community, family, vehicles and pets safe.
City of Goose Creek
Due to inclement weather City of Goose Creek offices will close at 2:00 p.m. today and will reopen tomorrow Wednesday, January 29 at 12:00 noon. This closure includes City Hall and the Municipal Court.
The Casey Community Center and the Goose Creek Community Center will close tonight at 6:00 pm and will reopen tomorrow Wednesday, January 29 at 12:00 noon.
The Department of Public Works will continue to perform sanitation services in the area until completion.

Berkeley County Schools
All of the Berkeley County School District, South Carolina schools, programs and offices will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 29 due to forecasts of snow and ice.
District leaders say they will continue to work with local county and emergency officials to assess roads and bridges to determine any potential closings or delays for Thursday. The district says it will keep parents posted in the event of any schedule change for Thursday.
As a reminder, schools are on a half-day dismissal schedule today, Tuesday, January 28. The January 28, 2014 regular School Board Meeting has been cancelled and rescheduled for Tuesday, February 4, 2014, 6:30 p.m.
