BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.—According to Dwayne Cartwright, CEO and president of Berkeley Electric, the tri-county’s Winter storm initially left 10,000 of its customers without power.
He says they have since restored power to approximately 6,000 customers with 4,209 customers still in the dark.
About a hundred people are still without power in the Jamestown area and more than dozen people have no electricity in the Cainhoy area. All together, 412 people in Berkeley County are dealing with power outages.
Much of the outages BEC is working to restore are concentrated in the Ravenel and Awendaw area.
BEC is currently reporting that 3,598 people are without power in Charleston County and 155 in Dorchester County.
Cartwright says neighboring co-ops are assisting BEC in the power restorations.
He expects power to be restored to all BEC customers around 2 p.m.
SE&G is also reporting that approximately 2,000 people are without power with some of those outages concentrated in the Hanahan area.
