BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to Berkeley Electric’s official Facebook page, they’ve had reports from the Cross area of individuals claiming to work for the power company, telling members that their meter base is damaged and needs to be repaired before power can be restored. They are then offering to fix the damaged meter base for a fee.

Berkeley Electric Coop is warning customers that these are NOT cooperative employees and under no circumstances will BEC workers be taking payments for any type of repairs in the field.

Customers are advised to contact the cooperative immediately if you are approached by these scammers.
