MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–On Wednesday Lennar, a home builder headquartered in Miami, celebrated the closing of its first home in the Jacobs Cove neighborhood with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
This new subdivision, which is located near the heart of downtown Moncks Corner, is yet another sign of the the growth that Berkeley County continues to experience. The U.S. Census Bureau already considers the county the fastest growing in the state and the 34th fastest growing in the country.
Berkeley County councilman Tim Callanan and several Moncks Corner councilmen attended the ceremony.
“Jacobs Cove is a wonderful 58 lot subdivision that is a welcome addition to this area of town,” said Mayor Bill Peagler in a statement. “Thank you, Lennar, for your interest in Moncks Corner and making this a better place.”
According to a Lennar spokesperson, the home builder has agreed to dedicate a 1.8 acre practice field in Moss Grove as well as make repairs to infrastructure installed by the original developer.
Lennar officials say they are also interested in assisting with the construction of the Moncks Corner Farmers Market at the Recreation Complex in the future. Jacobs Cove will include a neighborhood park and playground with floor plans priced in the low-100s.
Founded in 1954, Lennar has communities located in 18 other states.
