GOOSE CREEK, S.C.—According to officials with Berkeley Co. Animal Control, a 6-year-old is recovering from her injuries after two dogs attacked her over the weekend.
The attack reportedly occurred on Sunday at a home located on Rahway Road in Goose Creek. Officials say it was a relative of the girl that alerted animal control of the incident.
After an investigation, Berkeley Co. Animal Control determined that the child entered the backyard where the two dogs were housed. Officials say the dogs were not at large or running loose.
Animal Control filed an incident report that was sent to the Department of Health and Environmental Control, the agency that handles rabies concerns.
The dogs’ owners were told by animal control of the mandatory quarantine process that is required by DHEC.
The release does not indicate what breed of dog attacked the little girl.
The girl was taken to MUSC for her injuries and is reportedly in fair condition.
