HANAHAN, S.C.–A Hanahan man says he’s bought his last lottery ticket. He’s calling it quits following a $125,000 win on a $5 scratch-off this week, figuring he can’t get much luckier than that.
“I’ve been playing forever,” said the husband, whose patience was rewarded on a Giant Jumbo Bucks ticket he bought at the Circle K on Meeting St. in Charleston on his way home from work.
The odds of him winning that prize were close to 1 in a million.
“When it happened, I called my wife and asked her if she was sitting down,” the husband said. “She thought I was lying when I told her that I’d won.”
When he showed his wife the scratch-off with the words “JUMBO” and “$25,000” printed five times on the ticket, she did the math and knew $125,000 was theirs.
He took her out to dinner to celebrate being debt free.
As of this release, one top prize of $125,000 remains in the $5 Giant Jumbo Bucks game.
For selling the claimed ticket, Circle K Stores #5124 in Charleston received a commission of $1,250.
