According to The Sun News, a circuit judge denied bond for married couple, Sidney and Tammy Moore. The two are charged with the murder of Heather Elvis, a 20-year-old woman who vanished in Myrtle Beach in late December.
Sidney is originally from Berkeley County, having graduated from Lord Berkeley Academy in 1995. After graduation, he later moved to Myrtle Beach where he met his wife, Tammy, reportedly at a strip club.
In court, WBTW-TV reported that the prosecution acknowledged that a relationship between Sidney Moorer and Heather Elvis started in June 2013 and ended in October.
When Tammy Moore reportedly learned of the relationship, she contacted Heather Elvis multiple times, sending explicit photos and messages to Heather.
Here is one of the messages Tammy reportedly sent to Heather in November 2013:
“Someone’s about to get their a– beat down.. your b— is about to take his last breath… You can tell me where you are right now or I will find out another way… that way won’t have a great turn out for you… I am giving you one last chance to answer before we meet in person.. only one.”
On December 19th, police found Elvis’ dark green 2001 Dodge Intrepid parked at Peachtree boat landing in the Socastee area but no signs of the missing woman.
Horry County Police Chief Saundra Rhodes has stated previously that police found evidence inside the Moorers’ home and on their property during a recent search that gave them probable cause for the murder charge.
In a WMBF-TV report, the couple reportedly talked about buying land near Orlando, moving to Belize, or running to Canada. As a result, prosecutors asked the judge that bond be denied because they are considered a flight risk and danger to the community.
Sidney Moorer’s attorney told the judge this case has snowballed into an “outrageous witch hunt with no real evidence.”
A prayer vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday for Elvis at Forestbrook Baptist Church, according to the Find Heather Elvis Facebook page.
