BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.— Berkeley County spokesperson Chip Boling confirms that Bob Mixter, the director for Berkeley EMS, has resigned from his position.
Boling says Mixter stepped down from his position on Wednesday but the county spokesperson did not say what prompted him to do so.
Becky Blair, the Deputy Director of BCEMS, has been named the interim director, and Boling says she will serve in that role until a replacement is found.
Mixter served as a paramedic and in emergency medical response for more than 30 years.
He was employed by Berkeley County EMS for more than twenty years and began his career as a crew member before being promoted to training officer, deputy director and eventually director.

Bob Mixter did GREAT things for that county EMS Service, and this county administration will regret this! More-so, Berkeley County residents will not have the same OUTSTANDING EMS SERVICE quality after this! SHAME ON the Berkeley County Leadership!! Bob, I THANK YOU for your leadership!! You are a GREAT DIRECTOR and LEADER!!
You are so correct.
Allen, As one of the people who work for this County. AND had nothing to do with, and has no idea why it was done. PLEASE do not Slap the people who work here in the face with your Decreased Quality of Care statement. Maybe you should word that a little different. As a Paramedic I will Not. Treat any of my Patients differently. Most of us are in the dark, but we’re not low Quality. I too will miss Bob. I appreciate all he has done for us.
Terra, I don’t think Allens comments were “directed” towards the patient care, as you state but you would have to admit that if the best NFL Team loses it’s coach, the players still have great individual success but lose in the end. Bob has done so many amazing things for SC and the individuals of This Great County! Hat’s off to bob!
I worked with Bob since I started working in 1998 as a dispatcher continued working with him until my retirement in 2011.Bob have his all to his position and was an incredible person to work with. He helped save money while increasing many wonderful services to the citizens of Berkeley County. I see this as a VERY sad day. Bob is an amazing and sincere person that always had the best interest of the citizens and employees at heart. Very sad day for the county indeed!
