Deputies in Orangeburg County are still trying to figure out how someone managed to quietly steal one of their county-issues vehicles.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell recently told The Times and Democrat in Orangeburg that the unmarked, white 2007 Chevrolet Suburban was stolen from the yard of an officer early Saturday morning.

Ravenell says when the deputy awoke, he noticed that the vehicle was no longer in his yard.

The sheriff told the newspaper that some law enforcement equipment was missing including: a handgun, a tactical vest, a stun gun and a portable radio.

An investigation led officers to Berkeley County where they located the vehicle and missing equipment. It’s not known what part of the county the vehicle was located in.

Deputies have not made any arrests in the case, and the sheriff has stated that he wasn’t sure if this was a random act or if someone was targeting the officer.

If anyone has any information on the case, they are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 803-534-3550803-534-3550.
