MONCKS CORNER, S.C. –Around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Moncks Corner Police and the Moncks Corner Fire
Department responded to a reported meth lab at the Berkeley Motel.
Officials say people inside the motel were forced to evacuate while officers on scene then sealed off much of the building with yellow caution tape.
Unmarked police vehicles blocked both entrances to the motel while detectives surrounded the complex as well.
The motel is located at 415 N. Live Oak Drive in Moncks Corner.
The motel’s owner was seen speaking with police behind the tape.
Authorities confirm one person was taken into custody. Her name is Catherine Stiles. She is charged with manufacturing meth. She was booked into the jail around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to court documents. She has yet to appear before a judge for a bond hearing.
The officers on the scene had no additional comment on the case. We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
