BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C–The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has charged a woman with attempted murder for a shooting that happened Sunday night near Cypress Gardens Rd.
Authorities say that when deputies responded to 303 Winnow Court in the Planters Trace subdivision, they found a man in the home with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Shelly Anne Taylor, 36, has also been charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Her boyfriend, Trent Steven Needler, 46, was transported to a local hospital where his condition is listed as critical, but stable.
According to investigators, this not the first time deputies have responded to the address on Winnow Court. On three other occasions deputies responded to that location for criminal domestic violence calls and each time the victim reportedly would not cooperate with the sheriff’s office.
After an incident on 09/26/2013, when deputies observed an injury to Taylor, a warrant for Needler’s arrest was obtained on a charge of criminal domestic violence. That case is still pending in court.
Taylor is being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center where a bond hearing is scheduled for 7:00 pm Monday.
