Moncks Corner Police later requested the assistance of the Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office after locating a small, reported “meth lab” using the “shake and bake” method behind the house of one of the suspects.

According to an officer on scene, they simply located a soda bottle that contained ingredients for making meth.  For more information on this new meth-making trend, click here.

On April 17th Moncks Corner Police originally responded to the Scotchman on East Main Street in reference to an armed robbery.  Police say one of the suspects had approached the cashier and as the employee rang up the suspect’s items, he then reportedly demanded that the employee give him all of the store’s money and informed the worker that he had a weapon.

Police reviewed the store security camera and saw that one of the suspects and another man had been to the store several times that morning to purchase beer.  The second suspect in the video, police say, committed the robbery.  Both men fled the scene inside an SUV type vehicle, orange-red in color.

Following several community tips, Moncks Corner Police identified the suspects as James Craven Jr of Joey Lane in Moncks Corner and Jarrett Craven of Mullinax Lane in Moncks Corner.

On Apirl 23rd, six days after the armed robbery, Moncks Corner Police along with the Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office executed an arrest warrant on Joey Lane and handcuffed James Craven Jr.  They say the meth lab was located behind his home.

Later that afternoon, police say they arrested Jarrett Craven at his home

Both men face multiple charges including armed robbery.

James Craven was also charged with attempting to manufacture meth.  His bond was set at $340,000.  Prior to this latest arrest, investigators say he was charged with stealing money.  According to court documents, late last year he was charged with obtaining money under a false pretense.  For that crime, he was released on a PR bond, meaning he didn’t have to put up any money upfront to get out of jail.

Jarrett Craven’s bond was set at $260,652.  A judge has yet to set bond on the traffic charge that involves him traveling at a high rate of speed.  According to court documents, he has prior criminal charges that include DUI and burglary.

Both men still remain behind bars at the Berkeley Co. Detention Center at this time.
