ST. STEPHEN, S.C.—It may have been a quiet race, but on Tuesday voters in St. Stephen headed to the polls to elect a new mayor and council members.
Fewer than 800 people voted in Tuesday’s election at the only polling location, the American Legion Hut, on Ravenel Drive.
Robert Hoffman previously served as the town’s longtime mayor. He did not seek re-election this time around.
John Rivers, the town’s Mayor Pro-Tem, replaces Hoffman. He beat a man by the name of Wes Pratt.
Jerry Thrower, William F. Truesdale and Stanley Tucker were all elected to city council.
Rivers along with the three council members won’t be up for re-election again until May 2018.
