Recently, the developers of Foxbank Plantation donated 5,000 cubic yards of topsoil valued at $90,000.

While it might just be seen as dirt to some folks, it’s that soil that will help lay the foundation for the new building.

Today, crews were out at the site, putting down the soil.

Moncks Corner Mayor Bill Peagler says he appreciated the developers’ generous contribution.

“Jeff Randolph and Matt Bruner are stepping up as many other builders, contractors, church groups, civic clubs and developers have done to assist the Town of Moncks Corner with construction of the Moncks Corner Regional Recreation Complex,” stated Peagler.  “The donation of topsoil and the donated delivery from Foxbank will enable the Town to prepare the new football and soccer fields in the recreation complex for grassing at the perfect time of the year.”

The construction of the new recreation center is currently taking place behind Delta Pharmacy on Main Street. Once completed the complex will include a baseball diamond, football/soccer fields, tennis courts and area for a farmer’s market.

The mayor went on to say that he is very pleased that Southard Brothers Construction is so involved in the project.

“It is very helpful to have a local contractor with ties to our recreation program so involved with this project. Jason and Lee Southard take great pride in their work on this project and it is great to see their father Eddie Southard giving them a hand,” added Peagler.

The complex, which is set to be 50 acres, is being funded by the city’s hospitality tax.
