BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to Berkeley Co. Coroner Bill Salisbury on May 12, Clyde Cleveland, Jr., 17, was walking down 
Highway 45 when he was struck by a vehicle at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Salisbury says Cleveland was pronounced dead at the scene.
Since the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, Salisbury says the teen’s death is being investigated as a hit-and-run.
The incident is still under investigation by Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the SC Highway Patrol.
A native of Mount Pleasant, Natalie attended Bishop England High School (Go Bishops!) before heading off to Clemson University, where she graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in English. She went on to earn an M.A. in British Literature from the University of South Carolina.
