BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The summer canning season is here! Now is the time to sign up for canning classes offered through the local Clemson Extension Service. Five classes will be offered at locations in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. Persons who would like to become skilled in using the water bath method may take “Pickles and Relishes”, “Tomatoes”, “Fruits” or “Jams/Jellies”. A pressure canning class is scheduled for September.
The Pickles and Relishes class will take place at the Dorchester County Extension Office in St. George on June 26. The Tomatoes class will take place on July 26 at Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner.
Jams/Jellies will be taught at Carolina Harvest in Moncks Corner on September 6.
A Charleston location for the other two classes will be announced later. Additional classes can be scheduled for groups of 6-8 persons.
Each class will cost $30.00. Classes will last for 2-3 hours.
