BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. –Mayor Peagler, Moncks Corner recently called into The Bryan Crabtree Show WQSC 950 AM to discuss the results of Tuesday’s election.
Before Peagler discussed the results, he pledged to donate $100 to the Summerville charity that encourages children with autism play baseball.
“I heard about the Summerville program, we are building a park up here with a miracle field on it. I am going to match your $100 donation, and I challenge anyone running for public office to do the same,” said Peagler.
The results of Tuesday’s election had Peagler receiving 39 percent of the vote, Dan Davis, incumbent, 44 percent and Jerry Beckley 16 percent.
“We had so many people come out and vote, that want change, and hopefully we can all join together and make Berkeley County a better place,” said Peagler.
During this election cycle, funding for the Sheriff’s Department has been an issue against Davis, he has responded by saying he had to cut funding for every department because of the economic crisis.
“Mr. Davis has an answer for everything, if you look at the performance of Moncks Corner, we have improved services, continued to appreciate our employees by giving the raises, without raising taxes, we have found more officiant ways to spend tax payers money and to combine services to make sure everyone is working more efficiently,” said Peagler. “How can you explain the town giving 11 new police cars, to the Sheriff’s Department, during this economic crisis.”
Beckley recently gave his support to Peagler for the runoff election that will be on June 24.
