ORANGEBURG CO.—According to Lance Corporal Joe Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a collision around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday along Highway 176 at Coach Road.
When they arrived, they say they found that a Berkeley Co. ambulance transporting two patients from a previous wreck had collided with a tractor trailer.
Before the accident, Jones says the ambulance and tractor trailer were traveling west on Highway 176 when the driver of the ambulance attempted to make a u-turn.
Troopers say this caused the tractor trailer to hit the ambulance
Jones says 56-year-old Virginia Grimsley was charged with making an improper u-turn. A passenger and two patients were also in the ambulance at the time of the crash.
Luckily, no one was injured in the accident.
