MONCKS CORNER, S.C.—On Thursday night, 36-year-old Darryl Flowers faced a judge in bond court on a number of charges including: murder, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

According to Berkeley County deputies, Flowers shot his estranged wife, Tammy Flowers, 36, to death on June 4th at her Elmwood Place home in Goose Creek. They also say he shot his two teenaged nieces who are still recovering from their injuries at a nearby hospital.

After the shooting, officers say Flowers led them on a manhunt that eventually ended in Maryland the next day. Maryland State Police say it was a trooper working routine patrol who noticed a green Ford traveling northbound on I-95.

A check of the South Carolina registration plate indicated that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Charleston County and may have been involved in a homicide. They say troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, but Flowers refused.

After he was finally stopped, officials say Flowers cut his throat and wrist with a box cutter. He was transported by Harford County EMS to Bayview Medical Center for treatment.

He was finally extradited back to Berkeley County on Wednesday.

Due to the seriousness of the charges, a magistrate judge denied bond Thursday.

Flowers’ next court appearance is scheduled for August 8th.
