GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–Goose Creek Mayor Michael Heitzler has declared June 22-28 “Amateur Radio Week” in recognition of the outstanding services provided by the Trident Amateur Radio Club.
The Trident Amateur Radio Club will host an Amateur Radio Field Day exercise on June 28-29.
The Field Day is a 24 hour emergency encampment exercise and demonstration of the Radio Amateurs’ skills and readiness to provide self-supporting communications.
The Trident Amateur Radio Club was formed in April 1973. The original meeting was held to discuss the formation of a local ham (aka-amateur radio) club dedicated to the Novice licensee.
Today, members are still active helping the new ham get active and learn more about the hobby.
