MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of 66-year-old Kenneth Raymond Crismond of Moncks Corner on one count connected to sexual conduct with a minor.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, a member of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, made the arrest.
In November 2013, an undercover officer with the Charleston Police Department contacted an individual who had placed an online advertisement indicating he wanted to pleasure himself “for a young lady” via Skype or Yahoo! Instant Messenger’s video service.
The detective adopted the persona of a girl and, despite telling Crismond multiple times “she” was a minor, he proceeded to expose himself during two video conferences.
Officers from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at Crismond’s residence on July 21, 2014, where computer equipment was seized.
Crismond turned himself in to authorities on July 22, 2014 and was charged with one count of (Attempted) Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor (18 or younger) (§16-15-345), a felony offense punishable by up to ten (10) years imprisonment and Sex Offender Registry status.
Bond was set at $40,000. Crismond is to have no contact with children under age 17 (except his own child), no access to the Internet or electronic devices that can access it, and must stay away from areas where children congregate, such as daycare facilities, playgrounds, schools, libraries and parks.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
