BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.– According to Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Dan Moon, approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Ford Fusion on College Park Road in Ladson.
Moon stated that during the time of the stop, a shooting occurred inside the stopped vehicle.
The deputy was not involved in the shooting incident.
A 21-year-old woman was wounded and transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released.
The passenger, Jemane Antone Sanders, 27, of Summerville was arrested on an outstanding General Session Bench warrant.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate the shooting incident.
Moon stated that it is standard procedure for such a request since a deputy of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop when the shooting occurred.
