GOOSE CREEK, S.C.-According to a trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a crash on Monday shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Red Bank Road and Harbour Lake Drive in Goose Creek.
Dan Moon, the sheriff’s spokesperson, stated that the deputy’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening and is in stable condition at the hospital.
SCHP officials say the deputy’s lights and sirens were activated while responding to a call Monday night. They say the officer was traveling north on Harbour Lake Drive when his 2010 Dodge vehicle struck a 2014 Chevy Equinox traveling east on Red Bank Road.
Troopers say the deputy was trying to clear the intersection when the accident occurred.
There were five people in the Chevy Equinox, according to officials. They were transported to Trident Medical Center with minor injuries.
The crash was cleared about two hours after the initial accident and remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
