JAMESTOWN, S.C.—Homeowners in Jamestown say they are getting fed up with the recent burglaries in their small town and are now warning neighbors to keep their valuables safely secured and out of sight, even taking to social media to vent their frustration.
Several businesses have been the target of thieves recently, too.
On August 7th, Berkeley Co. deputies responded to a burglary at the Rock Quarry business in Jamestown. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered that someone had broken a window to one of the employee buildings. A 52 inch television valued at approximately $1,000 had been taken from the wall, according to officers.
On the same day, a woman on French Santee Road contacted deputies after she says someone stole her cargo trailer. She told officers that the trailer contained a two-seater go cart valued at $3,500; a generator valued at $1,200; four vehicle wheels black and chrome valued at $2,400; and a Troybilt pressure washer valued at $500.
In the past few days, there have been several other burglaries on that very road. In fact, one day after the first two burglaries, deputies were called to a home French Santee Road on August 8th after they say someone stole a four-wheeler and riding lawnmower. Both were valued at approximately $3,500.
On the very same day, there were two other homeowners targeted for their valuables. According to deputies, someone took a man’s single axle cargo trailer from his house valued at approximately $1,500. Around this time, deputies met with another homeowner who reported that someone had stolen her lawn mower from under her carport. It was valued at $2,500.
So far, no one has been arrested for the crimes. If you have any information, you’re urged to contact the Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office at (843) 719-4412. You can also contact Crimestoppers at (843) 554-1111. Remember, you can remain anonymous and may even qualify for a cash reward.
