After young man murdered, family plans community gathering

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – A community triumphs in the wake of tragedy as the two-year anniversary of the death of Bradley Blake, 21, approaches. A talented young man, Blake lost his life to gun violence just days after Christmas in 2012.

Eight months after Blake’s murder the Bradley Blake Caring and Sharing Foundation was formed. Sylvia Blake, mother, vowed to fight against gun violence and formed the foundations in her son’s honor.

The foundation serves as a catalyst in nurturing and restoring the lives of families and friends victimized by violent crimes. The core values of the foundation include nonviolence, peace and love, honesty, and safety. Programs such as Adopt-A- Highway and a free Homicide Survivor Support Group are offered through he foundation.

On August 16, the Bradley Blake Caring and Sharing Foundation will host a Community Awareness Day from 10am – 4pm at the Bonneau Park located at 420 Municipal Lane in Bonneau, SC.

The family fun event will have music, free food, and free back to school supplies.

Information on community empowerment will be available through discussion topics on voting, finance and banking, and ending violence.

Bradley Blake will live on through the actions of the foundation built in his honor.
