All right, Berkeley County baseball fans. ‘Charlie the Riverdog’ needs your help!
On Saturday, August 16, the Charleston Riverdogs and CARTA will partner in an attempt to break the world record for the largest kazoo ensemble.
“Kazoos are as American as baseball,” said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. With this promotion, Charleston is attempting to replace the current record held by 5,190 kazoo players in England.
The attempt at the record will occur this Saturday during the Charleston Riverdogs’ home game against the Rome Braves.
Attendees of the game will receive a kazoo upon entry, and, at the end of the game, the crowd will be led in a kazoo rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”
“We wanted to do something that was out-of-the-box, that put Charleston in the spotlight, and was worthy of a RiverDogs promotion,” said CARTA Marketing Director Michelle Emerson.
Officials from the Guinness Book of World Record will be on hand to record the attempt. Riverdogs fans are encouraged to be a part of the event–both prior to and during the game–by using the hashtags #CARTAKazoo and/or #DogsKazoo across their social media channels.
Riverdogs tickets can be purchased online at www.riverdogs.com or by calling the Box Office at 843-723-7241.
