Clemson Extension offers additional canning classes

Two final summer canning classes are scheduled during the month of September. Jams and Jellies will be taught on September 6th in Moncks Corner. The class will be held at Carolina Harvest located at 978 South Live Oak Drive ( Hwy 17-A ) from 10:00 am – Noon.

Participants will be engaged in the step-by step preparation of a luscious homemade spread. Current USDA techniques will be taught and demonstrated. A Pressure Canning class will be taught at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston on September 27 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Pressure canning is required for home canned vegetables, meats, and seafood. Participants will learn how to use a pressure canner safely and correctly. Class sizes range from 8-14 persons.
