Open Letter from Terrye Campsen Seckinger, a former member of the state board of education, supporting Mac McQuillin for Berkeley County School Board District 2:
Students are the future of Berkeley County. No two social institutions will influence that future more than our families and our schools. When school districts consider input from parents, who know their children best, students excel academically with a united parent/school effort.
With over two decades of serving in SC education policy, I have seen students excel when parents and educational professionals work collaboratively for the benefit of the student, when tax dollars are focused on the classroom, and when educators place as their first priority, the academic progress of each student.
As a mother of three boys attending public schools, I have known Mac McQuillin his entire life, and I strongly endorse Mac for Berkeley County School Board District 2. Mac has a keen understanding of education policy, which is a requirement for this policy position. He possesses an understanding of the unique challenges facing Berkeley County as a native Charlestonian. He is committed to ensuring that parents and schools work cooperatively for the academic benefit of each student. His focus on classroom investment, open communication between district and parents, with an emphasis on sound educational practices makes Mac a model candidate.
Mas is informed, understands the policy position of a school board trustee, is well equipped to meaningfully contribute to the Berkeley County School Board always placing students as first priority on all issues.
I am confident Mac will be a valuable asset to the District Board and to students and families of Berkeley County.
As the conservative candidate in this race, Mac will work with the district to curb wasteful spending and redirect funding and services to the classroom. Moreover, Mac’s positive working alliance with state legislators and the broader South Carolina education community will benefit Berkeley County by bringing parents and the county’s voices to state-level education decision makers.
Please join me in supporting Mac McQuillin for Berkeley County School Board District 2 on November 4th.
Thank you.
