BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On Friday, the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce formally celebrated Berkeley County and the companies and individuals who have been a mainstay in the success of the area.
According to chamber officials, Berkeley County has been recognized as the fastest growing county in South Carolina this past year.
In addition, since 1977, Berkeley County is the only county in the state to have four individual years with more than $1 billion dollars in capital investments, enabling future development and progress for the county, chamber officials stated.
The 2014 Annual Meeting celebrated significant business leaders of Berkeley County and their individual and irreplaceable roles in our current and future economic development.
Governor Nikki Haley served as a guest speaker.
“I was honored to receive an award along with Alcoa, Nucor, Kevlar, and Google for contributions to the county and state,” Haley wrote on her official Facebook page.
During the event, chamber leaders added that those companies Haley mentioned benchmarked those four years of billions of dollars in capital investments.
According to chamber officials, these industries have contributed to the overall growth of Berkeley County being “Open for Business.”
The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce is the leading voice of business and tourism in Berkeley County. Progressive industries; world renowned natural beauty; historical landmarks; lakes and rivers; and vibrant recreation mixed with shopping and locations which have been the back drop for major motion pictures all make Berkeley County a center for “the good life”.
