Elderly man killed during traffic collision on St. James Avenue

ambulance GOOSE CREEK, S.C.—According to Berkeley Co. Coroner Bill Salisbury, a vehicle struck a Lincoln Town Car on St. James Avenue at 12:37 p.m. Sunday.

Salisbury stated that the passenger in the Lincoln Town Car, John Harkins, 70, of Ridgeville was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:09 p.m.

The coroner has ruled his death as accidental with the cause due to head and body trauma.

The accident is being investigated by the Berkeley Co. Coroner’s Office and Goose Creek Police Department.
