GOOSE CREEK, S.C.—The suspect in Tuesday night’s standoff with SWAT and Goose Creek Police has died.
According to Coroner Bill Salisbury, the suspect has been identified as 57-year-old Brian Eugene Rice.
Several officers surrounded a home on McClain Street near Red Bank Road after Rice fired multiple shots.
Rice was shot in the process during the standoff.
Police and SWAT originally arrived on the scene around 9 p.m. in response to a domestic situation. Officers say two people, a woman and girl, were safely removed from the home.
Authorities say Rice has barricaded himself inside the house.
Ten minutes before midnight, more shots were fired. EMS crews responded to the scene.
Salisbury says an autopsy will be conducted later today.
