MONCKS CORNER, S.C.—The Moncks Corner Police Department is warning homeowners about a possible scam involving curbside painting.
According to Moncks Corner Officer Steve Meadows, a homeowner received a notice that “reflective curb addresses will be painted and repainted.”
“The number on the flyer is disconnected, and there is no business name on the notice,” stated Meadows. “We have checked, and to our knowledge no one has applied for a permit to complete any such work in the town. “
Meadows added that the fleet also does not give a business name.
“…which seems odd,” he stated.
Meadows is advising homeowners that if they are approached by someone going door to door, ask them for their Business License/Permit to conduct business in the town.
“If there is any doubt, do not hesitate to call and have an officer check the individual,” he warned.
To report this possible scam, contact central dispatch at 843-719-7917 or Meadows at 843-719-7930.
