BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The body of a missing Ohio man has been located in the same general area that searchers have been looking since early Saturday morning, according to authorities on scene.
Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Dan Moon says 58-year-old Jesse Conley of Waverly, Ohio was located in a thickly wooded area shortly before 2:00pm today.
No foul play is suspected in his death.
It is thought that he died from exposure to the elements.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office will release the official cause of death at a later time.
Relatives of the deceased man were here and have been notified.
Shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, the Berkeley Co. Rescue Squad was dispatched to Wapoola Plantation off of Cypress Gardens Road to help locate a 58-year-old Jesse Conley of Waverly, Ohio.
Conley’s 2011 white Chevy Camaro was located early Saturday morning by a hunter. A search of the nearby wooded area for the missing man came up empty.
Squad members received assistance from the Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office, SLED, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Moncks Corner Rural Fire Department and Pimlico Volunteer Fire Department.
First responders searched the plantation, which consists of several thousand acres, by foot, boat, horse and four-wheeler.
The Charleston Co. Sheriff’s Office also assisted with searching the area by helicopter.
According to family members, Conley has disappeared several times before and always located in rural areas far from Ohio.
