Two die in Jamestown wreck after a pickup collides with a log truck

ambulance JAMESTOWN, S.C.—Shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Berkeley Co. Rescue squad responded to a fatal wreck in Jamestown.

According to Trooper Hannah Wimberly, the accident occurred along Highway 17A near Von Hollen Road.

Wimberly says the accident took place after a pickup truck struck a log truck that was temporarily stopped behind a school bus.

Both the driver and passenger will killed in the wreck.

According to Coroner Bill Salisbury, pronounced dead on the scene was 64-year-old Larry Dixon and his son, a passenger in the truck, 39-year-old Vincent Dixon also of Pineville.

Both were not wearing seatbelts. The log truck driver was not injured.

It’s unknown if the driver of the log truck received any injuries from the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.

The wreck did temporarily shut down traffic along Highway 17A; however, it has since reopened.
