MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — Celebrate The Season presents the second annual Tinsel Trot Holiday Fun Run/Walk at Old Santee Canal Park on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 5:30-8 p.m.
Kids from 1 to 92 are invited to take an evening run, walk, dash, dance or prance through the two-mile course that offers a “sneaker preview” of Celebrate The Season’s Holiday Lights Driving Tour. The race begins at Old Santee Canal Park on Stony Landing Road in Moncks Corner.
This family friendly, rain-or-shine event will feature a special guest appearance from Santa Claus, glow necklaces for all participants, after-race entertainment and more. All proceeds from the Tinsel Trot will be donated to local charities in conjunction with those raised through Celebrate The Season.
The out-and-back course reverses near the Santee Cooper entrance on Rembert C. Dennis Boulevard/U.S. Highway 52 and finishes back at Old Santee Canal Park. The route is a smooth, paved surface with some slight dips and inclines. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome. Youth groups are encouraged to participate, and children must be accompanied by an adult. For safety reasons, pets will not be permitted.
Early registration
Early online registration is available through Friday, Nov. 7, at raceroster.com. Early registration may also be done through Nov. 7 via mail or in person at Old Santee Canal Park’s Interpretive Center from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Entries are available at www.celebratetheseason.org/tinseltrot can be mailed to Celebrate the Season Tinsel Trot, C/O Old Santee Canal Park, 900 Stony Landing Rd., Moncks Corners, SC, 29461.
Early registration fees are $10 for 7 years and older with a shirt (S-XXL); $5 for 6 years and under with a shirt (YS-YL); and free for 6 years and under without a shirt. In addition to online registration, cash, check or credit card payments are accepted at the Interpretive Center. Participants must register by Nov. 7 to guarantee a T-shirt with their race-day packet.
Late registration
Late online registration is available Saturday, Nov. 8, through noon on Friday, Nov. 21, at raceroster.com. Late registration can also be done Nov. 8-22 via mail or in person at the Interpretive Center at Old Santee Canal Park between 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Late registration fees are $15 for 7 years and older with a shirt (S-XXL); $10 for 6 years and under with a shirt (YS-YL); and $5 for 6 years and under without a shirt. Shirts are not guaranteed with late registration.
Packet pickup
Packet pickup will be available Nov. 20-22 at Old Santee Canal Park’s Interpretive Center from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Race-day registration will be held from 4-5:15 p.m. on Nov. 22 at the gate of Old Santee Canal Park. Additional shirts will be available on race day for $5 (pending size and availability).
