GOOSE CREEK, S.C.—It’s hard not to notice all of the construction currently taking place along St. James Avenue.
Crews recently demolished the old ‘Butchies by Design’ building to make room for the new Walmart Neighborhood Market.
According to store officials, they plan to employ approximately 95 people at the Goose Creek location.
Less than a mile down the road from the new store is already a Walmart Supercenter; however, it will be a bit different from traditional Walmart stores.
According to Walmart.com, the neighborhood market format offers quick and convenient shopping, with a full grocery department, including organic and natural selections.
Goose Creek Mayor Michael Heitzler has previously described the new store similar to Whole Foods Market.
The new store is expected to open sometime in the winter.
Walmart officials say that most of the new employees will begin work in December in order to help prepare the store for its grand opening.
