Governor Nikki Haley announced the 2014 South Carolina Christmas Challenge yesterday at the 48th Annual Governor’s Carolighting.
The governor challenged all South Carolina citizens to perform random acts of kindness over the course of the holiday season and share their stories on social media.
Haley also issued a statewide proclamation designating the month of December as Random Acts of Kindness Month, encouraging people across the state to embrace the Christmas spirit and take advantage of opportunities to lend a helping hand to someone in need.
“The holiday season is about loving the people around you and being selfless with your time and energy so that you can lift them up,” said Gov. Nikki Haley. “Last year, we started a new tradition by challenging South Carolinians to perform random acts of kindness and it resulted in an amazing outpouring of love and support for one another. This year, I think we can do it even bigger and we can show the world why we are the friendliest state in America.”
South Carolinians can participate in the challenge by sharing stories of either witnessing or committing acts kindness on the governor’s Facebook page, which can be found here – www.facebook.com/NikkiHaley – or tweeting them directly to the governor at @nikkihaley using the hashtag, #SCChristmasChallenge.
