BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.—According to Dorchester Co. Coroner Chris Nisbet, two people were killed in a traffic collision along I-26 near mile marker 185 over the weekend.
Shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nisbet stated that 32-year-old Ramesses Mahdee of Moncks Corner was driving his Dodge Challenger when it struck a Mazda Protege driven by 42-year-old Tommy Barrett of Gaston, South Carolina.
The coroner stated that both vehicles then lost control of their vehicles, left the roadway and struck several trees.
Both drivers were killed instantly. Nisbet stated that both men died from massive head trauma.
The coroner added that Barrett was ejected from the vehicle.
A passenger in Barrett’s vehicle was transported to Trident Medical Center with minor injuries.
The accident occurred in the eastbound lane of I-26 near Harleyville.
