BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced on Friday the arrest of Jamie Todd Young 39-year-old of Williamston, S.C. on 20 counts involving the sexual exploitation of minors.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, made the arrest, according to Mark Powell, a spokesperson for the S.C Attorney General’s Office.
Investigators received a referral from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, a member of the ICAC Task Force, that images of children engaged in sexual activity had been disseminated from an account traced to Young’s residence.
A search warrant was executed and computer equipment was seized for examination.
Each charge is punishable by up to ten years imprisonment.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
