GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–For much of her life Marguerite Hood Brown built a legacy helping others.
For nearly 40 years she served as a councilwoman for the City of Goose Creek.
She stepped down from the position in April 2014, having served since most of the city’s existence. In fact, the city’s municipal building is named after her.
She was also a charter member of the Goose Creek Garden Club.
On Saturday, Brown passed away at the age of 88. She leaves behind her husband, three children, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Crowfield Baptist Church, 100 Hunters Lane, Goose Creek.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. in McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek Chapel.
