MONCKS CORNER, S.C.—Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office was called to a mobile home park on Fairground Road in reference to a homicide.
According to Berkeley Co. Coroner Bill Salisbury, 51-year-old Willie James Todd was found in his bed with a stab wound to the chest.
His death is being investigated by the Moncks Corner Police Department and the Berkeley Co. Coroner’s Office.
Janice Coleman of Moncks Corner has been arrested for Todd’s murder, Salisbury stated.
Coleman was his live-in girlfriend for a number of years.
“Through the quick response of our patrol officers and the investigative unit, we quickly made an arrest in this incident. The victim and suspect were living together and it appears that the death stemmed from a domestic argument,” stated Steve Meadows with the Moncks Corner Police Department.
Meadows added that his department sends prayers to all who have been touched by this tragedy.
“The Moncks Corner Police Department wants everyone to know that we are here to protect our citizens and respond to any and all situations that may arise,” added Meadows. “We strive to make our community safe for all. When tragedy does strike, we also are prepared to devote our resources to ensure a quick resolution.”
