BCSO to conduct DUI checkpoints during ‘Sober or Slammer’ campaign

sober or slammer BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–In an effort to combat impaired driving and reduce highway fatalities and injuries, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office along with other agencies have scheduled DUI checkpoints in the following areas below.

This is all part of the S.C. Highway Patrol’s ‘Sober or Slammer’ campaign.

According to troopers, approximately 743 people have been killed in traffic crashes this year, compared to 731 killed during the same time period last year.

Troopers and local law enforcement agencies will conduct public safety checkpoints and intensify enforcement efforts to find and arrest anyone driving while impaired.

Below are the upcoming checkpoints the Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office will be conducting :

  • December 30, 2014 in the area of HWY 45 and Colonel Maham Dr. Pineville SC.
  • December 30, 2014 in the area of Hwy 176 and State Rd. S-8-16 Jedburg Rd / Cooper Store Rd. Summerville SC
  • December 31, 2014 in the area of Hwy 176 (State Rd.) and 17A (South Live Oak Dr.) Goose Creek SC
  • January 2, 2015 in the area of Hwy 41 State Rd. S-8-33 (Clements Ferry Rd.) Charleston SC
  • January 2, 2015 in the area of Henry E. Brown Jr. Blvd. and Red Bank Rd. Goose Creek SC.
  • January 3, 2015 in the area of Hwy 45 and Graham St. St. Stephens SC.
  • January 3, 2015 in the area of Hwy 45 and County Line Rd. Cross SC.
