GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–Goose Creek police have released surveillance video of several suspects breaking into a Goose Creek gun shop and stealing several firearms.
According to North Charleston police, one of the stolen guns was found hours later at the scene of a shootout between two suspects and cops off of Rivers Avenue.
Police say two juveniles were detained in that particular incident, and are being questioned, reported WCSC-TV.
Officers say on on Friday, January 9, 2015, at approximately 1:03 a.m., the Goose Creek Police Department Communications Center was notified by the Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch Center that North Charleston police had located a safe that was on fire in the area of Midland Park and that its contents were believed to be the property of residents living at 165 Manchester Ct. in Goose Creek.
Goose Creek officers responded to 165 Manchester Ct. and discovered that the residence had been burglarized. Contact was made with the homeowner who was out of town. The homeowner
confirmed that in addition to the safe, their 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, a shotgun, and two televisions were stolen.
At approximately 1:52 a.m., officers were then dispatched to D&R Gunsmithing at 124 St. James Ave. in reference to an activated alarm.
Upon arrival, it was determined that the business had been burglarized and that numerous firearms had been taken.
Security footage captured within the business depicted numerous individuals involved in the burglary.
At approximately 4:46 a.m., the Goose Creek Police Department was notified that officers from the North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) that officers had recovered the pickup stolen from 165 Manchester Ct. and arrested two subjects who were in the pickup.
NCPD reported that two suspects remained at-large. It was also determined that at least one of the firearms stolen from D&R Gunsmithing was inside the pickup.
GCPD investigators say they are coordinating investigative efforts with the North Charleston Police Department regarding thee cases and the suspects in custody.
