BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.– The search for a new superintendent to lead Berkeley County schools has begun, and the Berkeley County Board of Education wants input from the community to assist with the process.
A series of group meetings and public forums are planned for January 26 and January 28, 2015 for the public. Participants will be able to share feedback with a team from BWP & Associates, the national search firm selected by the School Board to assist with the search process.
BWP consultants will seek suggestions, answer questions, and explain the search process during scheduled meetings and forums.
Forums will be open to any community member who would like to attend.
The public forum times and locations are as follows:
An online survey to collect input will also be available on the district’s website following approval by the Board on January 27.
Current BCSD Superintendent Rodney Thompson asked to be released from his contract in September 2014. His request to resign from his position came less than two weeks after a grand jury indicted Amy Kovach, the school district’s communications director, on a second charge of forgery relating to the ‘Yes 4 Schools’ campaign.
