BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Dan Moon, BCSO deputy DeAngelo Scott has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation following a recent arrest.
The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office has charged the 30-year-old with criminal domestic violence.
According to the incident report, his girlfriend tried to enter Scott’s apartment by using her key but the chain apparently was on the door. When she attempted to remove the chain, Scott allegedly confronted her and the two began arguing.
That’s when the girlfriend claims Scott grabbed her by the neck, causing her to fall to the ground. She says he also grabbed her face and dragged her by the hair to the parking lot.
Scott claims the girlfriend forced her way into the apartment by kicking open the front door. He also added that he attempted to keep her from entering the apartment and was injured while trying to fend her off.
Deputies say the injuries to the girlfriend were apparent but were not on Scott.
He is currently out on bond. Scott has been with the department for six years.
