BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Dan Isgett filed to run for the Republican nomination for Berkeley County Sheriff. This is to fill the term that was opened up when Wayne DeWitt resigned as Sheriff. The election will take place on April 21.
“The people of Berkeley county deserve the best protection possible and the peace of mind that comes with it,” Isgett said. “I pledge to deliver prompt and professional law enforcement services to the citizens of our great county.”
Dan Isgett was born in Charleston SC and is married to Wendy Isgett. He is the father/ step father of five children. He has thirty years of active law enforcement experience. The first three years as a patrolman with the City of North Charleston Police Department and the last twenty seven years with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. Dan Isgett also serves as a National Law Enforcement Accreditation Assessor for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
During his career, Dan Isgett has served as a patrolman and a major crimes Investigator before being promoted in 1995. As a Sergeant he supervised Criminal Investigations, Family Court, Judgments, and Patrol units. As a Lieutenant, he has served as the agency’s Accreditation Manager, Patrol Commander, and Community Services Coordinator.
In his current assignment, he serves as the Liaison to the Charleston County Operations Center and previously commanded the Law Enforcement Hazmat Mitigation Team. Dan was nominated twice for Deputy of the Year and awarded Deputy of the Month on six occasions.
Dan Isgett is very active in the community and supporting law enforcement officers. He served two years as the Vice President of the Tri-County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3 in Hanahan. He then served ten years as the Lodge’s President.
Isgett also served two years as the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police 2nd Vice President and four years as the Treasurer. He was named Member of the year twice with the Fraternal Order of Police.
