MONCKS CORNER, SC – Berkeley County Supervisor Bill Peagler and members of County Council will present at Monday’s County Council meeting a resolution to Miss Berkeley County 2015 Nicole Moody, honoring her as the first Berkeley County representative at the Miss South Carolina pageant in over twenty years.
“I am honored that Councilman Schurlknight, Supervisor Peagler and County Council will recognize me at next week’s meeting,” said Moody. “And, I am grateful that I will also get to share more about my Miss Berkeley County platform – to excel the youth of today through 4-H development and leadership for the future success of our communities and to support the community through service and education opportunities for young women in South Carolina.”
Moody, a graphic design major on the Dean’s List at Charleston Southern University, was crowned Miss Berkeley County on February 21, 2015 and will serve as Miss Berkeley County at the Miss South Carolina pageant on June 27, 2015 in Columbia.
“We are so proud and happy that Berkeley County will be represented by such an amazing young lady as Nicole Moody,” said Berkeley County Supervisor Bill Peagler. “Her leadership with the Berkeley County 4-H Horse-N-Around Club is arguably second-to-none. Moreover, her work as a member of the National Barrel Horse Association and as a volunteer for Special Olympics, Hope Acres Horse Rescue, Fields for Families, Roscoe Reading Program, Callen-Lacy, Lowcountry Food Bank and Pet Shelter is truly commendable.”
Berkeley County Council Jack Schurlknight, who has known Moody all of her life and will present the resolution at the meeting, shared more of the incredible young woman Moody has become.
“Nicole has the ability to see the positive side of every situation no matter how grim,” said Schurlknight. “She is a real advocate for the underdog or less fortunate. She is refreshingly and brutally honest, leaving no question as to her position or her opinion about an issue. I can’t think of a better role model for the youth of Berkeley County than Nicole Moody.”
