BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Two Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office deputies won major, national awards at the National Interdiction Conference in Virginia Beach, Virginia last week.
The conference was attended by representatives from 44 states and six Canadian territories.
According to Chief Deputy Rick Ollic, Sergeant Nathan Rollins and Corporal Lamar Blakely were presented with awards for their superior work by the National Criminal Enforcement Association (NCEA) – a 6,000 member strong organization which includes law enforcement representatives from local, state and Federal law enforcement agencies.
Sergeant Rollins was presented with the 2014 Most Seized Counterfeit Goods Award, making this the second year in a row he has received this award. Rollins also received the NCEA K9 “Sonja” Award in 2012, which was a joint award presented to members of a regional task force whose job it is to intercept narcotics being transported along the I-95 corridor.
Corporal Blakeley was presented with the 2014 Investigator of the Year Award. This is the fourth consecutive year in a row Blakely received recognition from NCEA, having previously received their Most Occupied Stolen Vehicle Award in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Ollic said the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is “proud of the hard work our deputies are doing to make Berkeley County and our state a safer place. These national awards highlight the commitment, dedication and service of not only Sergeant Rollins and Corporal Blakeley but also of all personnel in the Sheriff’s Office.”
