BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Clemson Club is inviting Tiger fans to join co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott during their upcoming event titled ‘Tiger Talks 2015.’

“We are extremely excited to have our new co-offensive coordinator back in the lowcountry.  Coach Elliott is a graduate of James Island High School and we are proud to have such an enthusiastic coach and speaker join us,” stated Hazel Modica, the club’s vice president. “It’s equally exciting that Coach Elliott is a low country native and we are proud to welcome him back to the area.”

The event will include program, dinner, door prizes and a live auction. The money raised from the event will help fund academic scholarships for Berkeley County high school students attending Clemson University.

We just awarded our first scholarship in Fall 2014,” stated Modica.. “The idea of a scholarship began with the desire to give back to Clemson University and to financially support a Berkeley County freshman each year.”

The club currently awards one scholarship valued at $1,000 but Modica says the club hopes to increase the number of scholarships in the future.

“Our annual spring event, Tiger Talks, is extremely important as it is our only fundraiser throughout the year.  At each of our last two Tiger Talks we raised approximately $3,000 and hope to surpass that amount this year,” explained Modica. “We are excited that we have been able to present two dynamic speakers in former Clemson coach Chad Morris and this year Tony Elliott.”

Any high school senior from Berkeley County who applies to Clemson and gets accepted is automatically considered for the scholarship.  They don’t have to apply separately for the scholarship.

According to Modica, a lot of hard work has gone into making sure the upcoming event is a success and one everyone will enjoy.

“We have a dedicated group of board members and volunteers who work hard make this event happen,” stated Modica. “ Of course, we couldn’t make this event happen without our great sponsors or the great Clemson fans who purchase tickets.”
